You've tumbled into the digital playground of Martina Mrongovius — an ever-evolving ecosystem of experimental art and poetic science.

I'm Martina, an artist-researcher who works across holographic design, tech augmentation and the activity of perception. My media art projects often create emergent psychophysical experiences of multiple and moving perspectives.

Follow any of the paths below to discover immersive installations that transform physical spaces into emotional journeys, and published research that connects artistic practice with broader cultural conversations.

This site is an invitation to the curious — whether you're a fellow maker, an art enthusiast, or someone who enjoys getting lost to map-out new ideas.

Welcome to AN online ADVENTURE

Introduction to Martina Mrongovius and her work investigating holography.

Threads of Narratives

In exploring holographic imaging and making holographic art I return again and again to these three conceptual threads, pick one, explore them all or skip ahead >>

Process & Research

My process involves thinking through making, often using images, structures and installations. I use light and emergent technology along with found and repurposed materials. I also like to build imaging systems including pinhole cameras, optical set-ups to record holograms, and arrangements of light shaping elements.

  • Alpha CubeSat

and Holographic Messages with C Bangs, Greg Matloff and Space Science collaborators.

Through an open network of collaboration we are researching if holographic structures could enhance the design of Light Sails – both solar and laser driven.   While this research is being conducted the Holographic Messages project seeks to engage public imagination by including holograms containing images and information on the probes we send into Space.

Our first holograms are on the Cornell Tech Alpha Project ‘CubeSat’ satellite carrying an experimental ‘pop-out’ solar sail. The CubeSat will launch from the International Space Station on 17 November, 2025
